Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako of Japan visited the Noto region to pay respects to victims of an earthquake that struck on New Year's Day, killing 241 people.
Reconstruction has come slowly in a largely rural area with an aging population. The region is known for Wajima lacquerware and other handicrafts.
