We head to Jaipur with the Hyundai Creta for another leg of the Magnificent India series as we look beyond towering forts and tourists hotspots to learn more about some of the city’s traditional crafts including Blue Pottery and Block Printing.
If you run a quick Google search on Jaipur, you’ll be inundated with images of towering forts and magnificent palaces and that, for more tourists, is what defines Jaipur. The likes of Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal and Nahargarh Fort attract tourists from all over the country and the world and we too, several times in the past, have found ourselves at these locations. Unsurprisingly then, the boss wasn’t too enthused when I revealed my plans to head to the Pink City for the second part of the Magnificent India series presumably sceptical about us finding anything new to shoot. But such is the depth of the art, culture and history associated with Jaipur, that several aspects manage to fly under the radar of most visitors. Blue Pottery and block printing are two such examples of centuries-old crafts that have become an integral part of Jaipur’s identity. BLUE POTTERY
