A special programme to train teachers for students' socio-emotional well-being has been launched in Jammu and Kashmir.
A special teachers’ training programme on utilising art-based tools for children’s emotional well-being in addition to enhancing their academic performance has been launched in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, as informed by officials on Sunday.
The Kashmir and Jammu divisions' Directorate of School Education teamed up with the Piramal Foundation (Kaivalya Education Foundation) and the Red Pencil Humanitarian Mission to create the arts-based capacity building and training (ACBT) programme.
An official stated, "It is a theoretical base derived from the framework of collaborative for academic, social, and emotional learning that emphasises self-awareness, social awareness, relationship skills, self-management and responsible decision-making."
The project has the objective of enhancing the holistic well-being of students, especially, the ones who are not able to express their concerns and grievances verbally, according to officials.
The programme was jointly launched on Saturday by the Director of School Education, Jammu and Kashmir division, Ravi Shankar Sharma and Tasaduq Hussain Mir.
This initiative is going to train a total of 150 teachers, 75 each from the Jammu and Kashmir division in its first phase, as informed by the officials.
Ravi Shankar Sharma went on to remark that the ACBT project will be helpful in remote areas such as Poonch, Kishtwar, and Reasi.
