Bengaluru FC secures a 3-0 victory over Jamshedpur FC in ISL, breaking a winless streak and moving up the table.
There was relief in a beleaguered Bengaluru FC camp as the side recorded a 3-0 win over Jamshedpur FC in their Indian Super League clash at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Sunday.
A brace from Alberto Noguera and an Edgar Mendez strike helped BFC break a six-game winless streak. The host (31 points) moved up to fourth on the points table and reinvigorated its push for a playoff spot.
The fire to snap out of a bad run was apparent early, as the home team created chances aplenty.
Mendez was left alone with the JFC goalkeeper, but a weak side-footed shot was not up to finishing standard.
Sunil Chhetri then stepped up to the penalty spot, a result of Sourav Das bringing down Suresh Wangjam. It took an extraordinary save from Albino Gomes to deny Chhetri.
Mendez managed to put BFC on the scoresheet just before half-time. The Spanish striker pressed a drop-ball that Pratik Chaudhari failed to clear, and slotted it home with minimal fuss.
BFC added another through an Alberto Noguera free-kick.
