Integrated crop management training for farmers begins in Thoothukudi district

Farm school training on integrated crop management in paddy cultivation with focus on organic fertilizers and nutrient management for farmers.
The Agricultural Department officials organised a farm school training programme for farmers on integrated crop management in paddy cultivation.
The programme was conducted under the support of State Extension Programmes for Extension Reforms at the Kalankarai village in Thoothukudi district.
At the session S. Manoranjitham, Deputy Director (Farmers Training Centre) emphasised the importance of organic fertilisers to the farmers. He urged the farmers to choose organic fertiliser to maintain the nutrient level of the soil. Experts from the SCAD Agricultural and Science Centre T. Masanaselvam and P. Muthukumar explained the significance of the application of micronutrients for paddy cultivation and methods of integrated nutrient management.
Agricultural officers also provided insights on agricultural department schemes and preparation techniques for the plant-based pest repellents. Around 25 farmers took part in the training session.
