Influencer’s AI clone of herself goes rogue, becomes sex-crazed maniac

A social media influencer who made an artificial intelligence clone of herself and made $70,000 a week selling access to ‘virtual boyfriends’ quickly saw her digital alter ego go rogue.
The bizarre story of Caryn Marjorie has once again exposed the dangers of the rapid rollout of advanced AI technology, with the potential for serious abuse and illegal activity.
In May last year, the 24-year-old internet sensation, who boasts some 2.7 million followers on Snapchat, launched CarynAI on the encrypted messaging app Telegram.
“I have uploaded over 2000 hours of my content, voice, and personality to become the first creator to be turned into an AI,” Marjorie wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter, air the time.
“Now millions of people will be able to talk to me at the same exact time.”
Subscribers, mostly men, raced to sign up and were charged US$1 per minute to chat via audio with CarynAI, promised an experience with “the girl you see in your dreams” that used her “unique voice, captivating persona and distinctive behavior”.
