Indraneil Sengupta was lauded for his performance in shows like Aranyak and Human. In an exclusive interaction with IndiaToday.in, he spoke about OTT shows, roles he gets, and much more.
Indraneil Sengupta started his career with modelling and soon, went on to dip his toes in the acting world. And need we say how far he has come? Of late, back-to-back projects have kept the actor busy. After the phenomenal success of his latest two OTT shows, Aranyak and Human, Indraneil will next be seen in Mithya. However, fans have only one complaint about the actor - they want to see him for a longer period on screen. In an exclusive interaction with IndiaToday.in, Indraneil Sengupta shared whether it's a conscious choice to do smaller roles, working in the OTT world, and much more.
Excerpts from the conversation:
Fans want Indraneil Sengupta to have a longer screen time. We asked the actor if it is a conscious choice to have smaller roles with a deeper base than having a longer or lead role with a shallow layer. Speaking to IndiaToday.in, he shared, “No, it’s not a conscious decision. As people say that they would want to see me for a longer time on screen, even I would want to see myself for a longer time on screen (laughs). It hasn’t happened yet but I hope so, that makers feel that I am good enough to do longer characters. And I am sure in time, that will happen.”
Indraneil shared, “The OTT platform is something which I am very new to. I have done a lot of television, Bengali films, few Hindi films where I have played characters. The OTT platform is just the beginning, I have done Aranyak and Human. So initially, it’s important for me to establish myself as a reliable actor or as a good actor, if possible. For that, the characters I have got to play till now, I have been good enough to at least give an idea as to if I am able enough to do good roles and characters. So I am happy that has happened. People have taken notice. So now, if it leads to better work in terms of length of the role and something, of course, who doesn’t want? I want to play longer roles, leads. So let’s see.”
Indraneil felt that people recognising him for his work is far more important for him hunting for lead roles. He said, “I am happy doing roles where my acting is appreciated. I really am not hunting for lead roles or I am also not consciously trying to do character roles. I am just an actor. I’ll act as long as the character is fine. If it’s a lead, great, if it’s a character role, great, if it’s a villain, lovely. Everything is fine, as long as it’s somewhere I can perform and act and get appreciated for it.”
