
Indigenous singer who came out as trans reflects on her journey

For Mattie Comeau, a Mi'kmaw singer-songwriter from Elsipogtog First Nation, also known as Big Cove, the most joyful part of coming out as a transgender woman is getting to be herself.
Comeau, who sings with the Indigenous band The Hello Crows, came out when she was 33 years old. A year later, she's proudly living her authentic life. Scroll through the photos and watch the video to find out more about Comeau's journey.

In February, five people were killed in separate avalanches across B.C. and Alberta. That same month, more than a dozen people were killed in California and Utah, including a particularly deadly avalanche that claimed the lives of nine. In Europe, from Andorra to Slovakia, the season has recorded 125 deaths from avalanches so far.
