India logs 62,480 new Covid-19 cases, active cases below 8 lakh after 73 days

India reported 62,480 new Covid-19 cases and 1,587 more deaths due to the infection in the last 24 hours, according to fresh data released by the Union health mnistry.

India reported 62,480 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the overall coronavirus tally to 2,97,62,793, according to the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday morning. The top five states which have registered the maximum number of Covid-19 cases are Kerala with 12,469 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 9,830 cases, Tamil Nadu with 9,118 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 6,151 cases and Karnataka with 5,983 cases. As many as 69.7 per cent of the new coronavirus cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 19.96 per cent of the new cases.
