Legendary actor Dilip Kumar breathed his last at 7.30 am today (July 7) at Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital. He was 98. In the last couple of months, Dilip Kumar was hospitalised several times. After his death, Bollywood celebrities shared posts on social media remembering the actor. Shah Rukh Khan, Shabana Azmi, Dharmendra and other celebrities rushed to his Bandra residence this afternoon to pay their last respects. The veteran actor was buried in Juhu Qabrastan today evening.1. Dilip Kumar was hospitalised last week after he complained of breathlessness. At around 8 in the morning today, the actor’s family friend Faisal Farooqui, announced the news of his death on his official Twitter handle. "With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, a few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him we return. - Faisal Farooqui (sic)," the tweet read.2. As soon as the news of Dilip Kumar’s death was announced, several Bollywood celebrities and fans took to social media to condole the actor’s death.3. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled Dilip Kumar’s death in a post on Twitter. “Dilip Kumar Ji will be remembered as a cinematic legend. He was blessed with unparalleled brilliance, due to which audiences across generations were enthralled. His passing away is a loss to our cultural world. Condolences to his family, friends and innumerable admirers. RIP,” read PM Modi’s tweet.4. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi shared a picture of the actor on Twitter and talked about his "extraordinary contribution" to Indian cinema. “My heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and fans of Dilip Kumar ji. His extraordinary contribution to Indian cinema will be remembered for generations to come,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted.5. President Ram Nath Kovind, Home Minister Amit Shah, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal and Smriti Irani posted tributes on their social media handles.6. Soon after the news of the actor’s death was announced, celebrities including Shabana Azmi, Dharmendra, Vidya Balan, Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ranbir Kapoor arrived at Dilip Kumar’s residence to pay their last respects.7. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray also reached Dilip Kumar's Mumbai residence. He was seen consoling Saira Banu.8. Dilip Kumar's “mooh-bola beta” or son Shah Rukh Khan rushed to Dilip Kumar’s residence to support Saira Banu.9. Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan paid tribute to Dilip Kumar in a post on Twitter. “Saddened to learn of Dilip Kumar's passing. I can never forget his generosity in giving his time to help raise funds for SKMTH when project launched. This is the most difficult time - to raise first 10% of the funds & his appearance in Pak & London helped raise huge amounts (sic),” he wrote.13. A huge crowd of fans had gathered outside the actor’s residence to bid a final farewell.18. A heartwarming video of a group of fans paying a musical tribute to Dilip Kumar surfaced on social media. The fans, who had gathered outside the actor's home, sang the song Dil Diya Hai from his film Karma.19. Dilip Kumar's body was wrapped in the Tricolor as Mumbai Police officials accompanied the funeral procession from the actor's residence to Juhu Qabrastan.20. Saira Banu along with other family members and friends of the late actor were at Juhu Qabrastan for the burial. Dilip Kumar, who is a recipient of both Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan, was buried with state honours. Amitabh Bachchan and son Abhishek Bachchan also attended the actor's last rites.
