India and Cuba launch IT Council in Bengaluru to enhance tech cooperation, focusing on innovation, education, and digital transformation.
The India–Cuba IT Council was formally launched in Bengaluru on Friday (February 20, 2026) following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indian Economic Trade Organisation (IETO), a part of the United Diplomatic Council (UDC), and XETID, Cuba’s institution for the promotion of foreign trade and investment.
The agreement establishes a structured framework for cooperation in information technology, digital transformation, innovation ecosystems, technology education, and cross-border IT business promotion between the two countries.
Under the MoU, bilateral cooperation will focus on five key areas of IT Parks and Technology Zone, Digital Trade and IT Services, Delegation and Industry Exchanges, Education and Skill Development, Innovation and Emerging Technologies.
The newly formed India–Cuba IT Council is expected to serve as a dedicated platform to deepen bilateral engagement in technology and innovation, while facilitating business linkages and institutional cooperation between the two nations.
Addressing the India–Cuba IT Council Launch after attending the summit in New Delhi on February 19 and 20, Cuba’s Minister of Communications Mayra Arevich Marin stated that the AI Impact Summit 2026 had positioned India at the forefront of a human-centric artificial intelligence movement for the Global South, with Cuba strongly backing New Delhi’s call for equitable, inclusive and risk-aware AI development. She described the gathering as a landmark moment in the global technology discourse.
“Artificial intelligence is extremely important for development, but we must reduce the risks associated with its use. It must be implemented responsibly and equitably,” she said, emphasising that innovation and regulation must move together.
