Independent panel to release findings tied to 2024 Calgary water main break
CBC
Calgary city council is set to delve into a report today focused on the 2024 failure of the Bearspaw south feeder main as it continues to grapple with the consequences of a second break.
The report, which was put together over the past nine months, was commissioned by the previous council in the wake of the first failure. The panel was led by Siegfried Kiefer, a former ATCO executive.
It is unrelated to a 600-page city report presented to council last December.
On Dec. 30, a second water main break in Calgary's Bowness neighbourhood led to significant flooding.
It has resulted in ongoing water restrictions, and a boil-water advisory for several northwest communities, which was lifted on Sunday.
