In UP, Woman Dies By Suicide After No Police Action On Rape Complaint

The Azamgarh Police Superintendent said the in-charge of the local police station has been suspended

A woman died by suicide in Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh today after alleged police inaction in a rape complaint she made, officials said.

Superintendent of Police, Azamgarh, Sudhir Kumar Singh said the woman's husband has alleged that she was sexually assaulted recently and had identified one Anil from the same village as one of the accused, but police failed to take action.

"In-charge of the police station has been suspended for negligence," he said.

The woman's family has alleged that they appealed to the police many times for justice, but in vain.
