IMD predicts light rainfall with thunderstorms for Chennai over the weekend

According to the weather agency, Chennai is likely to receive light rainfall with thunderstorms over the weekend.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rainfall with thunderstorms for Tamil Nadu's capital Chennai for the next two days. According to a report published in The Hindu, many places in the state may receive rainfall over the weekend owing to the prevailing weather systems and convective activity.

The IMD officials were quoted by the Hindu as saying that an associated east-west trough running across the south peninsular region would cause fairly widespread rainfall in Tamil Nadu. They said that the formation of a low pressure area over Westcentral and Northwest Bay of Bengal may not directly impact the state.
