Illegal call centre busted in Gurugram; case registered

An illegal call centre reportedly engaged in duping foreigners was busted in Gurugram.
Gurugram police busted an illegal call centre operating from Sector 69 along the Southern Peripheral Road. Police said the call centre was involved in cheating foreign nationals, particularly those from the United States (US) and Canada.
According to a report published in the Hindustan Times (HT), the call centre was cheating foreign nationals by threatening to cancel their social security numbers. Police said that the call centre employees used to send voice messages to foreign nationals and forced them to purchase gift cards via online payments.
