
'I had no idea': Mom finally meets officer who has been keeping her daughter's memorial clean for years

Indianapolis Police Officer Jeff Stagg wasn't expecting any fanfare when he would stop to pick up trash and clear away the weeds around a roadside memorial for Shelby Smith -- he just didn't want the young woman, who was killed 22 years ago by a drunk driver, to be forgotten.
On Monday, Stagg met Smith's mother, who got in touch with him after video of him cleaning up the area drew widespread attention earlier this year.
