One of the most poignant sports speeches in recent memory came from a giant of a man, the 6-foot 10-inch Kevin Durant. It was a speech that climaxed in a standing ovation and reduced many to tears, but he wasn't talking about his accomplishments on the court; he was talking about his mother.
"We weren't supposed to be here; the odds were stacked against us," he said. Choking back his own tears, Durant described the hardships that he and his older brother had endured with their young, single mom. "You put clothes on our backs, food on the table.
