I'll be forever proud of my accomplishments. Yet the category of women's sports is now facing an erosion due to discriminatory policies that allow men who identify as women to compete.
We should not have to add the term ‘biological’ in front of the word women to address differences in performance and our separate categories. Let me be clear: women are not inferior to men. We are strong and incredible within our own physical limitations. But we ARE different in ways that make men advantageous when it relates to something that requires sheer strength and athleticism. Riley Gaines is a 12-time NCAA All-American, five-time SEC Champion and record holder, and two-time Olympic trial qualifier. She is also the Stand With Women Spokeswoman for the Independent Women’s Forum.
Males are hurdling themselves forward in national rankings stealing scholarships, titles, and opportunities from women who have worked their whole lives for those accomplishments.
In my own personal experience swimming against Lia (formerly Will) Thomas at our NCAA Championships last year, I can wholeheartedly attest to the blatantly obvious unfair advantages and discrimination we faced as female athletes.
