Hyderabad's RGIA saw 2.78 crore passengers in 2024, with December hitting a record 27.05 lakh, reflecting a 20% YoY increase.
Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) recorded a total passenger traffic of 2.78 crore between January and December 2024, according to data from GMR Airports Limited. The year culminated with December recording the highest monthly passenger traffic of 27.05 lakh, reflecting a 20% year-on-year (YoY) increase.
The monthly passenger traffic at the RGIA revealed dynamic trends. Starting with 21.81 lakh passengers in January, the figures dipped slightly to 20.77 lakh in February before climbing to 22.16 lakh in March. April saw a marginal decline to 21.96 lakh, while May recorded a substantial increase to 23.91 lakh. The airport handled 22.23 lakh passengers in June, followed by a gradual rise in July (22.66 lakh) and August (23.30 lakh). September registered a slight dip to 22.61 lakh, but October saw a significant surge to 24.95 lakh, which further rose to 25.32 lakh in November. December capped the year with a record 27.05 lakh passengers.
In December, domestic passengers accounted for 23 lakh and international passengers contributed 4 lakh of the total traffic of 27.05 lakh. The airport achieved its highest-ever single-day passenger traffic on December 22, handling over 92,000 travellers.
Additionally, December saw the highest single-day aircraft movements, with 583 recorded on December 12. Overall, the airport managed 17,507 aircraft movements (ATMs) during the month.
For the full year, the RGIA recorded 1.92 lakh ATMs. October 2024 witnessed the highest monthly ATMs at 17,553, following by a dip in November (16,667) and a rise in December (17,507).
Monthly trends displayed steady patterns, beginning with 15,054 ATMs in January. February saw a slight dip to 14,494, followed by an increase in March (15,949). April remained consistent with 15,660 ATMs, and May and June both recorded 15,861 movements. July registered a minor decline to 15,707, with a rebound in August (16,228) and September (16,224).
