Hurting Pete Alonso a new Mets worry in injury crisis
NY Post
ATLANTA — Pete Alonso is the latest Mets position player hurting.
The first baseman was absent from the starting lineup for the first time this season — manager Luis Rojas initially indicated Alonso was getting a night off to rest — because of soreness in his left wrist. Alonso was unavailable to pinch hit and will be reassessed on Friday. Alonso previously had X-rays on the wrist (which were negative) after he got hit in the wrist two weeks ago in St. Louis.
SAN DIEGO — As you may have seen elsewhere in this newspaper (and also if you haven’t deleted me yet from your social media), I have a book coming out Tuesday called “The Bosses of The Bronx.” Much of it details the 37 years’ worth of antics, winning, losing, winning again and overall mania of George Steinbrenner’s time with the Yankees.

Cade Cunningham, almost inarguably the best player in the East this season, is likely out for the remainder of the regular season. That’s the word out of Detroit following the depressing news that Cunningham punctured a lung when he took a knee to his side Tuesday from Washington’s Tre Johnson while chasing a loose ball.

Wednesday was another positive day at Yankees camp. For the first time since March 6, 2025 — an outing in which he knew “something wasn’t right,” which began a weeks-long saga that ended on the operating table for Tommy John surgery — Gerrit Cole was back on a mound and facing hitters in game action.
