The detection of a new Covid variant Omicron a month before the onset of 2022 may ruin New Year plans for many international travellers. This new strain and a dramatic rise in cases across Europe have forced many countries to reconsider travel guidelines and even re-impose restrictions. While countries such as Israel, Japan and Morocco have put a complete ban on international flights, others have imposed targeted restrictions.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said on Monday that all international arrivals will have to show travel history of the last 14 days and a negative RT-PCR report. Many other countries such as Australia, Israel, Austria, Belgium and Germany have increased restrictions recently.
