House GOP gives lawmakers a chance to amend legislation for the first time in nearly 7 years

For the first time in nearly seven years, House Republicans will allow a modified open amendment process on the House floor, giving all members a say in legislating.
Under House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Republicans are bringing back the process in a bid to address complaints that party leaders have shut out rank-and-file members from the process of legislating. Pete Kasperowicz is a politics editor at Fox News Digital.
"The House Republican majority is committed to allowing all members to participate in the legislative process," House Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-La., wrote to members of the House late last week.
