
Hospitals warned they must protect children from chemical and surgical mutilation: HHS agency memo

An HHS agency sent out a memo reminding hospitals and medical providers of new policies restricting gender-transition treatments and surgeries for minors.
"Other developed nations have taken decisive actions to prohibit or significantly limit these mutilation practices to ensure that children are protected from harmful, unscientific medical interventions," the memo adds. The notice also said " CMS may begin taking steps in the future to align policy, including CMS-regulated provider requirements and agreements, with the highest-quality medical evidence in the treatment of the nation’s children in order to protect children from harmful, often irreversible mutilation, including sterilization practices.
