QNA & TNNDohaPrime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani toured Hamad International Airport (HIA) and Doha International Airport to see the expansion and development projects at the two airports.The PM began his tour at HIA, where he was briefed by senior officials about the multi-stage expansion plans being implemented at the airport as part of the its construction, in line with the overall planning of the project. He was also briefed on the developments of the projects of the central area, which includes the passenger terminal and duty free, and the west side, which includes taxiways, aircraft parking lots, baggage handling building, and jet fuel buildings.The expansion of the current phase, which will end next year, will serve the guests of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.The PM also toured Doha International Airport, during which he was briefed on the ongoing infrastructure development projects and the various facilities, in addition to security and safety procedures. He saw the preparations to facilitate the arrival of people on chartered flights and official delegations participating in FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021 and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 were also The PM affirmed that the expansion plans of HIA will enhance its role as a global transit hub within Qatarâs strategic location. The PM said Doha International Airport, along with HIA, will support and facilitate air transport during the two championships -- Arab Cup 2021 and World Cup 2022.In a tweet, the PM said, âI was briefed today on the multi-stage expansion projects and plans at Hamad International Airport, which will enhance its role as a global transit station within Qatarâs strategic location, and an important addition to our air transport sector, which contributes effectively to the countryâs plans to diversify the economy and development renaissance.âThe PM added, âI also inspected the progress of work on infrastructure development projects for Doha International Airport and its various facilities, which, along with Hamad International Airport, will contribute to supporting and facilitating air transport during the Arab Cup 2021 and the 2022 World Cup.âThe PM was accompanied on the tours by a number of senior officials.More Related News
