Heavy police presence in Timmins

People in Timmins are waking up to a heavy police presence in the area of Sixth Avenue and Pine Street on Tuesday morning.

People in Timmins are waking up to a heavy police presence in the area of Sixth Avenue and Pine Street on Tuesday morning.

"Police have responded to an incident and [are] still on scene," Acting Deputy Chief Darren Dinel, of Timmins Police Service.

"We are working on providing some information shortly."

Two schools in the area, Pope Francis Elementary School and Ecole Catholique Jacque-Cartier on Ninth Avenue, are closed for the day "due to an emergency situation in the school neighbourhood."
