Doha: The State of Qatar has voiced strong support for the United States' commitment to ending the war in Gaza, welcoming the comprehensive peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump. In his weekly press briefing, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari confirmed that 'Trump's plan' was delivered to a Hamas delegation on Monday evening by Qatari and Egyptian officials. Al Ansari hailed the Trump proposal as a broad vision for ending the war - a goal Qatar has pursued from the beginning of the conflict through humanitarian aid and diplomatic efforts. "The American president's plan offers a comprehensive vision to end the war in Gaza - a vision Qatar has long advocated for," Al Ansari stated. "Qatar, alongside Egypt, delivered the proposal to the Hamas delegation, which has pledged to review it responsibly." He added that a meeting on Tuesday would bring together negotiating delegations from Qatar, Egypt, Hamas, and Turkiye to consult on the plan and push forward toward a resolution. Al Ansari also welcomed the announcement by President Trump of a proposed "Board of Peace", which would help oversee the plan's implementation. Qatar, he said, supports the US playing a guarantor role in the peace process and confirmed that discussions are ongoing regarding the council's composition. Qatar has reiterated its commitment to reconstruction efforts in Gaza and to supporting the Palestinian people, underlining that its approach remains consistent in any peace initiative that serves the Palestinian cause and ends the current conflict. The negotiations in Doha have included high-level regional actors. On Monday, Egyptian Intelligence Chief Hassan Mahmoud Rashad took part in the talks, with Turkish Intelligence Director Ibrahim Kalin scheduled to join on Tuesday. Al Ansari explained that this trilateral coordination follows a meeting held in New York between several Arab and Islamic leaders and President Trump, which expanded the scope of participation in the US-led initiative. This is a collective and coordinated effort between Qatar, Egypt, and Turkiye to bring an end to the war in Gaza, he said.

Addressing Monday's apology from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Al Ansari stressed that Qatar's top priority is the sovereignty and safety of its people and territory. "The commitments made by President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister yesterday include a clear guarantee - under the authority of the US president - that Qatar will not be subject to further attacks," he said. "Qatar is satisfied with these security assurances." He added that Qatar reserves its right to pursue legal action, particularly in response to the death of Qatari citizen Badr Al Dosari, who was killed in an Israeli attack. Legal avenues under consideration include proceedings at the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice, along with ongoing discussions at the UN Security Council and the Human Rights Council in Geneva. Separately, Al Ansari welcomed recent diplomatic momentum in favor of Palestinian statehood, highlighting that over 12 countries have recently recognized the State of Palestine following meetings in New York. These moves, he said, send a clear message to the Israeli occupation that the status quo is internationally unacceptable. Al Ansari noted that the American plan refers to the idea of lasting peace, coexistence, and a final pathway to peace. "But the first step is securing consensus among all involved parties. Without agreement on the final shape of the plan, any practical implementation cannot begin".

On the other hand, Dr. Al Ansari referred to the phone call held on Monday by HE US President Donald Trump with both HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, and the Prime Minister of Israel, within the framework of American efforts to address the repercussions of the Israeli aggression that targeted a residential neighborhood in Doha city on September 9. During the call, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed appreciation to the US President for the sustained efforts to achieve peace in the region, including the guarantees of non-repetition of the aggression against the State of Qatar, and reaffirmed the US commitment to its defense partnership with Qatar. He noted that the Israeli Prime Minister had extended an apology for this attack and the violation of Qatari sovereignty, which resulted in the martyrdom of Qatari citizen Badr Al Dosari, pledging not to repeat any targeting of Qatari territory in the future. Meanwhile, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed Qatar's readiness to continue engaging in efforts to bring the war to an end after receiving such guarantees within the framework of the US President's initiative, in continuation of the approach Qatar has consistently upheld in resolving crises through diplomatic ease, aligned with its role in supporting regional peace and stability. Al Ansari stated that, following the US President's announcement of the regional peace plan, a joint statement was issued by the Foreign Ministers of Qatar, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, welcoming the US President's efforts to end the war in Gaza. In another context, he pointed out that during its various engagements at the United Nations, the State of Qatar participated in 35 events and meetings spanning the Gulf, Arab, and global levels. Among the most notable were the participation of HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs on Sunday in the Coordinating Ministerial Meeting of GCC Foreign Ministers, as well as His Excellency's participation in the joint ministerial meeting of Their Highnesses and Excellencies the Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the United States of America. He highlighted that HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi headed the Qatari delegation at the GCC-France joint ministerial meeting, the GCC-United Kingdom joint ministerial meeting, the annual consultative ministerial meeting of the Arab League Council at the foreign ministers' level, and the high-level ministerial meeting on Palestine-The Hague Group. He further explained that HE Minister of State for International Cooperation Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad participated in the Security Council emergency ministerial session on the Middle East, including the question of Palestine; the annual meeting of principal partners in support of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA); the ministerial meeting on joint efforts to ease the situation in Sudan; the signing of a Letter of Intent on humanitarian assistance and development between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland; and the annual ministerial meeting of the Least Developed Countries. He added that HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi participated in the inaugural ministerial meeting of the Contact Group of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) on Afghanistan, the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, an event on strengthening humanitarian efforts in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Great Lakes region, the ministerial meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee for Coordination of International Aid to the Palestinian People (AHLC), the 2025 Peacebuilding Commission ministerial meeting, and the 18th Global Governance Group meeting. Al Ansari also mentioned that Doha hosted on Monday the third round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and Romania. The Qatari side was headed by HE Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi, while the Romanian side was headed by HE State Secretary for European, Middle Eastern and African Affairs Clara Staicu.
