GT vs DC: We could have batted well- Rishabh Pant rues batting failure after defeat vs Gujarat

IPL 2022: GT vs DC, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant was heartbroken after the defeat to Gujarat Titans at the MCA Stadium, Pune on Saturday, and rued batting failure for the loss to the debutants.

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant was left to rue his team’s batting errors after his team suffered a 14-run defeat at the hands of new-comers Gujarat Titans in the tenth match of IPL 2022 in Pune on Saturday. DC lost to Gujarat Titans by 14 runs at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on Saturday, their first loss of this season.

Shubham Gill’s 84 run innings, including 6 fours and four sixes, and Lockie Ferguson's exceptional bowling (4-28) under the leadership of skipper Hardik Pandya made Rishabh Pant’s men suffer. The Titans made 171 runs in 20 overs, but Delhi could only manage a total of157.

Delhi Capitals had completed nine of their last ten chases at the MCA coming into this match, but failed to replicate the same form against Gujarat Titans.

Early exits of Prithvi Shaw, Tim Seifert, and Mandeep Singh during the power play, with Lalit Yadav and Rishabh Pant's departure soon after, left Delhi Capitals high and dry.

Rishabh Pant believes that losing so many wickets early was the reason the match became difficult, and the team in the middle order could have batted better.

“I think according to the wicket that total was not so big. We could have batted well specially in the middle overs, we lost three wickets in the powerplay and three in the middle. I think every match is going to be hard after losing so many wickets,” Pant said to the broadcasters.

Pant said that the weather conditions in the stadium determine the lineup of the team.
