Govt. running corruption chain system, bills cleared only after 30% commission: Aruna
BJP vice-president and Mahabubnagar MP D.K. Aruna has accused the Congress Government of running a “corruption chain system” and alleged that pending bills are cleared only after “30% commission”.
Talking to the media at the State BJP office here on Friday, the former Minister said her allegation is based on the ‘confessions’ made by ruling party ministers. She advised the government to focus on governance and development instead of ‘looting’ the State.
“The government has thrown up its hands when asked to implement unfulfilled promises but there appears to be no end to corrupt practices. There is no need for employees’ unions to celebrate because government had cheated them by releasing just one DA when the demand was for five,” she said.
She questioned the five-hour Cabinet discussion, when the final outcome has been “disappointing to the people at large”. No local contractor is coming forward to take up works due to delayed payments and corruption, she maintained.
Ms. Aruna also asked the government to hold talks with farmers and take public opinion instead of trying to enforce industrial development as it would lead to protests, as it has been happening with the proposed ethanol plant.
At a separate press conference, Legislature party leader A. Maheshwar Reddy questioned the marathon Cabinet meeting and wondered why peoples’ actual concerns were not discussed, especially about implementing the promised guarantees.
People had a lot of hope and expectation from the meeting but it was not to be. He demanded a proper time frame for grounding the promised schemes and also local body elections by providing quota to BCs.
