A government hospital ward attendant in Chennai was arrested for sexually harassing a 55-year-old woman during a home visit.
The R.K. Nagar police have arrested a ward attendant at a government hospital on charges of sexually harassing a 55-year-old woman at her residence in Korukkupet.
The police said the woman, who lives with her family, suffers from severe diabetes. After undergoing a surgical procedure in which a portion of her right foot was amputated, she was unable to visit the hospital and was receiving treatment at home.
Sekar, 58, employed as a ward attendant at Government Stanley Hospital, had been visiting her residence to dress the surgical wound. On Saturday (February 22, 2026) afternoon, when he went to change the dressing, he allegedly sexually harassed the woman while she was alone at home with her young grandson.
When the woman raised an alarm, he allegedly threatened her before fleeing the scene, the police said.
Based on a complaint filed by the survivor at the R.K. Nagar police station, a case was registered. The accused, a resident of Kodungaiyur, was arrested and later remanded to judicial custody following interrogation.
