Govt amends Cable TV Network Rules, provides statutory mechanism for complaint redressal

The Centre has amended the Cable Television Network Rules to provide for a statutory mechanism for the redressal of complaints relating to content broadcast by the television channels.
The Centre on Thursday amended the Cable Television Network Rules, giving a statutory pedestal to self-regulatory bodies like News Broadcasters Standards Authority (NBSA) and Broadcasting Content Complaints Council (BCCC). Information and Broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar, in a tweet, announced that the rules had been amended and the bodies set up by broadcasters recognised. The central government on Thursday issued a notification amending the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994 thereby providing a statutory mechanism for redressal of grievances/complaints of citizens relating to content broadcast by television channels in accordance with the provisions of the Cable Television Network Act, 1995, an official statement said.More Related News
