GOP grills Biden admin on 'highly suspicious' endangered mussel decision that might halt border buoys

Republican lawmakers led by Rep. Jodey Arrington of Texas are questioning a move by the Interior Department to list two types of mussel found in the Rio Grande as endangered.
The FWS said that the populations of both species "have low abundance, limited recruitment, and no ability to disperse into new areas, they are extremely vulnerable to extinction." Adam Shaw is a politics reporter for Fox News Digital, primarily covering immigration and border security.

"In making this proposed listing determination, the Service carefully assessed the status of the Rio Grande mussels, including the past, present and future threats that they face," the FWS said in a statement, adding that the decision was made on the best scientific information available on the two mussels.
