Fresh tension erupts in Bengal’s Asansol over rumour of second custodial death

A day after violence erupted in West Bengal’s Asansol after the custodial death of a 21-year-old, Wednesday saw fresh tension in the area over a rumoured second custodial death.
The atmosphere in Barakar area of West Bengal’s Asansol was tense on Wednesday after fresh hostilities broke out over a rumoured second custodial death in the area. Earlier, 21-year-old Mohammed Arman Ansari, arrested for theft, died in police custody in Asansol on Tuesday. His father claimed he had been tortured in custody. As the news spread, locals came out in protest. They threw stones on police vehicles and set a few cars on fire. Two police officers were suspended pending inquiry after the incident.More Related News
