After a weekend of mild temperatures, Greater Toronto Area residents are being warned of another blast of winter weather on Wednesday, according to Environment Canada.
A special weather statement has been issued for most of the GTA and a yellow winter storm warning for Durham region as snowfall, freezing rain and icy conditions are expected to hit from Wednesday morning into the evening.
The national weather agency's warning says a low pressure system is expected to bring snow and freezing rain Wednesday morning, but it noted there was some uncertainty around the predicted amount of precipitation.
From Halton region to Toronto, several hours of freezing rain with five to 10 millimetres of ice build-up and five centimetres of snow is possible.
Meanwhile areas east of Highway 400 may receive little to no freezing rain, but more snow or ice pellets. About 10 to 15 centimetres of snow is expected in Durham region, said Environment Canada
Durham region also has a yellow level advisory for "near zero visibility" due to fog on Tuesday morning.
"Warnings may be issued as the event draws closer," said the weather agency, adding residents should be careful of roads and walkways and take extra time for travel.
