Former Karnataka State Police Chief Om Prakash allegedly killed by wife Pallavi in Bengaluru, leading to police investigation.
Former Karnataka State Police Chief and 1981 batch IPS officer Om Prakash, 68, was allegedly killed by his wife Pallavi at their residence in H. S. R. Layout in Bengaluru Sunday (April 20) evening.
In a dramatic turn of events, Sunday (April 20, 2025) evening, Ms. Pallavi reportedly made a video call to the wife of another retired IPS officer from the State, to whom she was close to, and claimed she had killed “the monster”.
The friend in turn called the police and alerted them to the crime. H.S.R. Layout police rushed to the former Director General and Inspector General of Police’s residence, to find him lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab injuries.
Police detained Ms. Pallavi for interrogation and took her to H.S.R. Layout police station. She is the prime suspect in the case and further investigation is on.
The couple reportedly had a long marital dispute and Ms. Pallavi had earlier complained to Om Prakash’s colleagues that he was trying to kill her. Five days ago, she had reportedly posted on a WhatsApp group of the wives of senior IPS officers of the State that her husband was trying to kill her by giving her poison. .
Om Prakash’s body has been shifted to St John’s Hospital for autopsy.
Om Prakash was from Champaran district, Bihar and a 1981 batch IPS officer. He served as DG&IGP of the state from 2015 and retired in 2017.
