Former Giants captain Logan Ryan announces NFL retirement

After 11 NFL seasons and two Super Bowl victories, Logan Ryan is calling it a career.
The 33-year-old New Jersey native and former Giants captain announced his retirement Tuesday morning on social media after the defensive back spent the latter part of last season with the 49ers.
“Thank you to all my family, friends and teammates for the guidance and support! Thanks to the fans for watching! Won 2 Super Bowls and got out happy and healthy to be the best father for my children! Thanks again for 11 seasons! Cheers to what’s next 🥂,” Ryan wrote on X along with a video in which he recapped his career and wore his two Super Bowl rings.
A standout at Eastern Regional H.S. in Vorhees, N.J., Ryan starred at Rutgers for three years before he was taken by the Patriots in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.
Ryan, who had a career-high five interceptions as a rookie, spent his first four seasons in New England, where the cornerback was part of the Super Bowl XLIX and Super Bowl LI championship teams.
In 2017, he signed a three-year, $30 million contract with the Titans, helping them reach the divisional round in his first season with the team, and the AFC Championship game in the 2019-20 campaign.
