Floods inundate several parts of Kerala after heavy downpour, red alert in 5 districts

IMD has sounded a 'red alert' for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Thrissur districts.
Severe waterlogging was reported in several areas of Kerala after heavy rain lashed the state, especially the south and central regions on Saturday. Many rivers were reported to be overflowing as the meteorological department sounded a 'red alert' and predicted extremely heavy rainfall in five districts of the state.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) sounded a 'Red Alert' for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Thrissur districts. An orange alert was issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.
