
Five students booked for assault on Class 10 boy in Kochi school washroom

Five students from a private school in Kochi, Kerala, face charges for assaulting a classmate, leaving him with serious injuries.
The Hill Palace police have registered a case against five students of a private school at Thripunithura in Kochi, Kerala, on charges of assaulting a Class 10 student which has left him with a broken nose and multiple damaged teeth.
Among the accused are four Plus Two students and a Class 10 student. The incident took place in the washroom on the first floor of the school on Monday (March 3, 2025) around 10.15 a.m.
As per the first information report (FIR), which was registered on Wednesday, the incident happened after the victim questioned the alleged break-up between the first accused and a girl in the same class as the victim. The first accused and the accomplices cornered the victim and his friends in the washroom and started assaulting him.
The victim was repeatedly assaulted on the face by the second accused even as the other accused kept egging him on, the FIR said.
“We came to know about the incident after we received intimation from the hospital where the victim had sought treatment. We also recorded his statement. For the time being, we are not taking further action as the accused are students and have exams,” said the police.
The accused have been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 115 (2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 117 (2) (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 189(2) (unlawful assembly), 191 (2) (rioting), and 190 (every member of an unlawful assembly responsible for offences committed in pursuit of its common objective).
