Falcons hiring Giants Super Bowl hero Chase Blackburn as assistant special teams coach
NY Post
A member of the Giants’ last two Super Bowl-winning teams is joining the coaching staff in Atlanta.
Chase Blackburn, who spent eight of his 10 years in the NFL with the Giants, was hired by the Falcons as their new assistant special teams coach, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported Wednesday.
The former linebacker will work under special teams coordinator Craig Aukerman, landing on his feet after he was fired as the Rams’ special teams coordinator late in the 2025 season.
Blackburn, 42, was given the heave-ho after the Rams fell to the eventual Super Bowl champion Seahawks in Week 16 — a game that included several special teams blunders.
The Rams’ special teams unit gave up a 58-yard punt return touchdown, and that play proved pivotal, as it jump-started a comeback for the Seahawks.
Kicker Harrison Mevis also missed a 48-yard field goal attempt in the defeat.
