Ousted former GOP Rep. George Santos faces up to 87 months in prison in his federal wire fraud and identity theft case. He has said he is ready to "face the music" in court.
Santos pleaded guilty to federal fraud and identity theft charges in August as part of a plea deal. He admitted to deceiving donors and stealing the identities of nearly a dozen individuals to fund his campaign. He further agreed to pay nearly $600,000 in penalties. Federal prosecutors are seeking an 87-month custodial sentence, according to court filings. Santos' legal team had previously asked the court for a two-year sentence in a court filing earlier this month.
