Former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda criticizes BJP government for failing to control rising crime and unemployment in the state.
Former Haryana Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Saturday (November 30, 2024) hit out at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government, accusing it of failing to check the ‘deteriorating’ law and order situation in the State.
Mr. Hooda, in a statement, said recent incidents of crime in different parts of the State had exposed the poor situation of law and order. “The state government is sleeping, intoxicated by power while criminals are fearlessly committing crimes,” he alleged.
“A young man being shot dead in broad daylight in Safidon, looting at a jewellery shop in Fatehabad are a few incidents that expose the poor law and order situation in Haryana. The foremost responsibility of every government is to protect its citizens. But ever since the BJP came to power, it has completely turned its back on the responsibility. This is the reason why the crime graph is continuously going up in Haryana,” he said.
Mr. Hooda said in 2013, about 72,000 cases of crime under Indian Penal Code were reported, which had doubled to 1,25,435 now. “If we talk about the crime rate, it was 273 in 2013, which has increased to 419 today,” he said.
“It is clear that the number of crimes is increasing continuously under the BJP government. This is the reason why investment in Haryana is continuously decreasing because investors come to only those states where law and order is good,” he said, adding that the BJP had ruined the law and order of Haryana.
“The number of crimes is increasing due to increasing unemployment. BJP has trapped Haryana in a dangerous, vicious circle of crime and unemployment,” he said.
