EU condemns Kosovo’s closure of Serbian banks
Voice of America
Kosovar police officers guard an office of the Postal Savings Bank from Serbia, in Mitrovica, May 20, 2024. Serbian Dinars were banned and the euro was imposed as the only legal currency, making it difficult for Kosovo Serbs to receive salaries or aid from the Serbian state.
The European Union on Tuesday slammed Kosovo after police closed six branches of a Serbian-licensed bank on Monday, following the country’s ban on the Serbian dinar currency.
