Writer Era Murukan was conferred with the Vishnupuram Literary Award for the year 2024 along with a prize of ₹5 lakh and a memento at a ceremony in Coimbatore on Sunday.
Era Murukan is known as one of the pioneers of modern Tamil literature and has earned a special place through the novel `Arasur Vamsam’.
A documentary film titled “A Garden of Shadows” was screened, and a book ‘Muppattaikannadiyinulagam’ was released. Kannada writer Vivek Shanbag participated as the special guest at the function. Writers Jeyamohan, M. Gopalakrishnan and Ramya offered felicitations.

Currently, only the services in the 32 series stop at the section of the road adjacent to the Broadway terminus, temporarily closed on account of reconstruction work. And it seems set to continue with a newly discovered green patch in RK Nagar in the Sundays to follow.
