Doha, Qatar: Minister of Environment and Climate Change H E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie honored 40 students from the Sustainable Development Goals Centre in appreciation of their innovative engineering and environmental projects that contribute to national sustainability efforts.
The recognition took place during the students’ visit to the Ministry, where a mobile interactive exhibition showcased seven scientific and technological innovations developed through an intensive 120-hour training program that included the “Sustainable Engineering Technology Hackathon.”
Throughout the exhibition, the students presented creative solutions aimed at addressing key challenges related to water, energy, pollution, and recycling.
Their projects included a solar-powered device capable of turning food waste into organic compost, an unmanned aerial system designed to measure soil moisture, and an educational environmental satellite model built to monitor air quality, thermal changes, and marine pollution.
They also introduced a low-cost water purification system, an initiative converting construction waste into reusable materials, a solar-powered transport concept supporting sustainable mobility, and an eco-friendly smart bracelet created from recycled materials as a model for electronic ticketing.
