UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is setting out his plan to lift most of England's remaining coronavirus restrictions by mid-July, despite warnings from some experts that the current surge of Delta variant cases across the country means such moves were premature.
Johnson was due to announce changes to the rules on social distancing, face coverings and working from home at a news conference on Monday afternoon. The Prime Minister was expected to reiterate that Covid-19 would "become a virus that we learn to live with as we already do with flu," Downing Street said Sunday. The move is part of the government's roadmap out of lockdown which was delayed last month to no earlier than July 19. A final decision on what has been dubbed "Freedom Day" will be made in a week's time following a review of the latest data.
Janet Mills and her allies are counting on a gender gap to narrow Platner’s wide lead ahead of the June 9 primary to decide who will face incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins. They are betting that the unfiltered style that has brought Platner widespread attention as someone who could help Democrats reach young men will backfire with women.

As a shrinking number of Transportation Security Administration agents work to keep hourslong security lines moving despite not being paid, President Donald Trump stepped into the fray Saturday, announcing he will send Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers to airports by Monday if Congress doesn’t agree to a plan to end the partial government shutdown.
