England limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan announces retirement from international cricket

England limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan has pulled the curtains down on his career in international cricket amidst question marks over his form. Morgan retired after being England's leading run-scorer in ODI and T20I cricket.
England ODI and T20I captain Eoin Morgan, on Tuesday, June 28, announced his retirement from international cricket. The southpaw has helped the Three Lions change the face of their cricket since their early exit in the 2015 World Cup.
Morgan started his career, playing for Ireland, but later shifted to England and became one of their finest cricketers in the limited-overs formats.
In 16 Tests, 248 ODIs and 115 T20Is, Morgan went on to score 700, 7701 and 2458 runs respectively with 16 centuries and 64 half-centuries.
The Dublin-born cricketer captained England in 126 ODIs and 72 T20Is. Under his leadership, England won 118 matches since August 2011 when Morgan captained the national team for the first time.
Back in 2019, Morgan also captained England to glory in the 50-over World Cup at the Lord's Cricket Ground. Under Morgan, the Brits also qualified for the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2021 where they lost to Kane Williamson's New Zealand.
