Education ministry officials inspect pvt schools as new academic year kicks off

Tribune News NetworkDohaOmar Abdul Aziz Al Naama, assistant undersecretary for Private Education Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, paid inspection visits to number of private schools and kindergartens in the past two days as the new academic year 2021-2022 kicked off across private schools and kindergartens.Hamad Mohamed Al Ghali, director of the Private Schools Licensing Department, and Rashid Ahmed Al Ameri, director of Private Schools Affairs Department, also made inspection visits separately to several private schools and kindergartens in various parts of the country.The visits covered Itqan Global Academy, ACS International School Doha, Qatar International School, the Next Generation School (TNG) Ain Khaled branch, Edison International Academy and Al Rayyan Private School for Boys.Al Naama congratulated the students, teachers and administrative staff on the start of the new school year and wished them all success. He praised the preparations made by private schools and kindergartens, particularly on attracting new staff, filling vacancies and carrying out all operational, maintenance and rehabilitation works for school facilities. He commended the outstanding efforts of the schools and kindergartens to ensure integration of ICT (e-learning) into the educational process. Al Naama pointed out that officials of the Private Education Affairs Sector held a series of videoconference meetings, over the last few days, with over 200 private schools and kindergartens. “We ensured that private schools and kindergartens were fully prepared to receive students for the new academic year, without any obstacles that may hamper the smooth start of the academic year, especially in view of the challenges the world is facing,” he saidHe noted that 328 private schools and kindergartens offer a range of international curricula and programmes to meet the needs of 203,939 students of over 85 nationalities, with 33 percent of Qatari students being enrolled in private schools and kindergartens.Hamad Mohammed Al Ghali said that 16 new private schools and kindergartens are expected to be opened for the new academic year 2021-2022, providing 8,870 seats for new students. Al Ghali added that student registration in private schools and kindergartens, which began in March 2021 will continue until October 14, 2021. The students coming from outside Qatar will be able to apply for registration in private schools and kindergartens until the end of January 2022. Al Ghali said that 16 new private schools and kindergartens are expected to be operational this academic year, with diverse international and national curricula. Rashid Ahmed Al Ameri stated that Private Education Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education has made several arrangements to ensure the smooth running of the educational process in private schools and kindergartens. Khaled Ali Al Saadi, director of the Educational Services Centers Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, stated that the ministry has licensed 10 new education and training centres this year, bringing the total number to 148 centres.
