ED questions Partha Chatterjee’s son-in-law in money laundering case

Kalyanmoy Bhattacharya, son-in-law of former Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee, was questioned by ED in connection with a money laundering case.
The Enforcement Directorate on Monday questioned Kalyanmoy Bhattacharya, son-in-law of Partha Chatterjee, in connection with a money laundering case. Former Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee was arrested by the central agency in connection with probe into alleged money laundering in the teacher recruitment scam.
Kalyanmoy Bhhatacharya, who is married to Partha Chatterjee’s daughter Sohini, lives in New York. The ED had issued a summons to Kalyanmoy to join the probe in the money laundering case. But due to his stay abroad, he failed to appear before the agency.

As per sources, Kalyanmoy Bhattacharya reached Kolkata from New York the day before yesterday. The sources added that after the agency was alerted of his arrival in the country after his mobile tower location in India, the ED reached out to him immediately and issued a notice to him.
Kalyanmoy was reportedly asked to appear before the ED in Kolkata on Monday. Sources said Partha Chatterjee’s son-in-law reached the ED office at 11 am this morning and was questioned by the officials.
