
ED questions builder Yusuf Lakdawala in alleged land grab case of Nizam's property

The case pertains to cheating, forgery and attempted land grab of a property worth over Rs 50 crore belonging to the heirs of Nizam of Hyderabad.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday questioned yesteryears Bollywood producer and builder Yusuf Lakdawala in a case related to alleged money laundering. The case pertains to cheating, forgery and attempted land grab of property worth over Rs 50 crore belonging to the heirs of Nizam of Hyderabad. In April 2019, Lakdawala was arrested for attempting to grab the property which was also partly owned by late writer Mulk Raj Anand. According to sources, Lakdawala, with the help of one Mohan Nair, destroyed original government land records, forged documents and showed that the land which is around 4.4 acres, located at Khandala in Pune district was sold to his father in 1949. The land was then gifted to Lakdawala in 1968 through a gift deed. Officials from Mumbai Police had said the forged documents were prepared to show the sale of the said property by Himayat Nawaj Jangbadadur of Hyderabad to M.H. Lakadawala, who was the father of accused Yusuf Lakadawala. Then in the year 1968, one gift deed was prepared to transfer the said property in favour of Yusuf Lakadawala.More Related News
