ED files chargesheet against three in Remdesivir ‘black marketing’ case

ED filed a chargesheet against three for illegally selling Bangladesh-made Remdesivir injection vials during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Enforcement Directorate has filed a chargesheet against three persons for illegally selling Remdesivir injection vials during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021. The accused allegedly sold injections made in Bangladesh.
ED has named West Bengal-based Rahul Bardhan, Biswajit Das, and Nishita Kanodia as accused in the case for illegal selling and black marketing of Remdesivir. The chargesheet under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) has been filed before a designated court in Kolkata.
ED commenced a probe in this case based on an FIR filed on April 26, 2021 by the Kolkata Police under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Drugs and Cosmetics Act.

ED alleged that Rahul Bardhan ran an illegal network for black marketing Bangladesh-made Remdesivir and sold it with help of other two accused at exorbitant prices.
Earlier, in February this year, ED had attached proceeds of crime allegedly obtained through the illegal sale of such drugs belonging to Rahul Bardhan and Nishita Kanodia under PMLA.
