Donald Rumsfeld, a former US secretary of defense who served under two presidents and brought a hardline approach to US foreign policy as he oversaw the global war on terror, died at the age of 88, his family said in a statement Wednesday.
Rumsfeld died at his home in Taos, New Mexico, and was surrounded by family at the time of his death, the Rumsfeld family said. No cause of death was immediately provided. "History may remember him for his extraordinary accomplishments over six decades of public service, but for those who knew him best and whose lives were forever changed as a result, we will remember his unwavering love for his wife Joyce, his family and friends, and the integrity he brought to a life dedicated to country," the family said in their statement.

They are betting that the unfiltered style that has brought Platner widespread attention as someone who could help Democrats reach young men will backfire with women.
